올해 학술대회의 주제는 'Back to Basics in the Age of AI: Balancing Technology and Traditional Teaching Methods'입니다. 인공지능(AI)이 계속 발전함에 따라 제2언어 또는 외국어로서의 영어를 가르치는 많은 교육자들은 AI에 의해 역할이 대체될 수도 있다는 불안감을 느낄 수 있습니다. 그러나 효과적인 프롬프트를 지시하거나 작성하는 능력인 프롬프트 리터러시(prompt literacy)는 현재 AI 사용의 핵심역량입니다. 어떤 학습자가 프롬프트 리터러시를 잘 구사하는지에 대한 답은 간단합니다. 학문적 기초 개념과 원리를 잘 이해하고 있는 학습자라고 할 수 있습니다. 즉, 기존의 암기나 주입식 교육이 아닌 개념적, 발견적, 창의적 학습을 통해 개념과 원리를 잘 이해하고 있는 학습자가 프롬프트 리터러시 능력이 뛰어날 가능성이 높습니다. AI의 발전은 위기가 아니라 교육 본질로 다시 돌아갈 수 있는 기회가 될 수 있습니다. 이번 학술대회는 언어교육의 본질을 되짚어보고 언어교육이 나아가야 할 방향을 논의하는 장을 마련하는 것을 목표로 합니다.

이번 학술대회는 발표 접수는 완료되었고 접수된 발표자를 포함한 선착순 150명의 신청자에게는 여수 라마다 호텔 2박 3일 무료 숙박이 제공됩니다. 아직 등록 가능한 객실이 남아 있으니 지금 접수해 주세요. 150명의 등록 접수가 마감된 이후에 추가로 학술대회에 참석할 계획이 있으신 경우 경비는 참석자 본인이 부담하셔야 합니다.

l Conference Theme and Topics of Interest
 
The theme of this year's conference is Back to Basics in the Age of AI: Balancing Technology and Traditional Teaching Methods. As Artificial Intelligence (AI) continues to advance, many educators teaching English as a Second Language (L2) or English as a Foreign Language (EFL) may feel anxious about the possibility of being replaced by AI. However, it is important to note that prompt literacy - the ability to create or write effective prompts - is currently a key factor in the use of AI. Therefore, the answer to the question of who has good prompt literacy is simple: learners who have a solid grasp of academic foundational concepts. Learners who have a strong grasp of concepts and principles through conceptual, discovery, and creative learning, rather than traditional rote memorization or instruction, are more likely to excel at prompt literacy. The advances in AI could be an opportunity to get education back on track and back to basics, rather than being a crisis. This conference aims to provide a forum for discussing how to return education to its fundamental principles.

The call for presentations for the conference is already closed, but the first 150 applicants, including accepted presenters, will receive a free 3-day/2-night stay at the Ramada Hotel in Yeosu. There are still rooms available, so please register now. If you plan to attend additional conferences after the 150 registrations are closed, you will be responsible for your own expenses.
