|Thank-you Message for the KATE 2016 International Conference|
Dear KATE members,
As President of KATE for the past two years, I would like to first send out messages of gratitude for achieving a great success through the 2016 KATE International Conference. This year’s conference was held on July 7th and 8th at Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Seoul, under the theme “Current Perspectives on Teaching English: A Multidisciplinary Approach.” During this rather short but filled with enthusiasm and brilliance period of time, the KATE marked another important milestone. For this, I want to express my heartfelt appreciation to all of you who joined us on the special day where we started a new 50-year history of KATE.
We thank the former presidents of KATE, the presidents of the affiliated presidents, the invited guests including Mr. Martin Fryer, who delivered the congratulatory speech for the conference, the keynote and plenary speakers, the delegates from our international affiliates, the presenters, the session chairs, and the general attendees for your tireless work and care for KATE. My words of gratitude also goes out to those who wholeheartedly supported the conference from afar.
My sincerest thanks go out to Heyoung Kim, the Conference Chair; Dongho Kang, the Fund Raising Chair and the Publicity Chair; Dongkyoo Kim, the Program Chair/Coordinator; Sang-Keun Shin and Soondo Baek, the Site Chairs; Sun-Young Oh, the Program Book Chair/Editor; WonHo Isaiah Yoo and Jeong A Shin, the International Affairs Chairs; Min-Young Song, the General Affairs Chair; Eunjoo Lee, the Treasurer; Young Woo Cho and Daehyeon Nam, the Online Support Chairs; and Hyung-mi Joo and Eun Sook Shim, the Reception Chair. Without your endless dedication and immeasurable effort, this extraordinary event would not have been possible. Last but not least, I want to thank our sponsors, the National Research Foundation of Korea, Seoul Metropolitan Government and Convention Bureau, YBM, the International Communication Foundation, Chungdahm Learning, English MouMou, Daekyo, E*Public Korea, Mirae N, Neungyule Education, Yoon’s English School, Educational Testing Service (ETS), and other sponsors for your kind support.
Another remarkable journey has begun that will write new chapters of history of KATE. We are certain that KATE will accomplish domestically and internationally more recognized roles in English education and also contribute to the invigorating future of English education. This can be achieved by the love, concern, and dedication from you, the prestigious members of KATE. Thank you again for your support and cooperation for the 2016 KATE International Conference. I hope all of you have a delightful summer.
